  • VMIS Training

  • OPOC (Organizational Point of Contact) Training

Training Requirements

Attendance is mandatory for all new volunteers and OPOCs.

  • Volunteers: Learn expectations for both the individual and the unit/organization. Training covers Army regulations related to volunteer service and includes a hands-on demonstration of VMIS features such as:

    • Entering service hours

    • Applying for volunteer positions

    • Uploading earned awards

    • And more

  • OPOCs: Training covers:

    • Basics of volunteer recruitment, retention, and recognition

    • VMIS functions for tracking volunteers and service hours

    • Required paperwork to comply with Army regulations

Advantages of Using VMIS

  • Army-wide system: Used across all installations.

  • Portability: Volunteers can continue service seamlessly from post to post without re-registering.

  • Service member benefits: Hours tracked in VMIS generate DD4162 and DD4713 forms, supporting award/citation/medal requests.

  • Family benefits: Spouses and family members can track hours for resumes, academic programs (e.g., National Honor Society), and college applications.

  • Permanent record: VMIS serves as a repository, storing all service information for future reference.

Fort Carson Operation Good Samaritan

Volunteers may also log hours served with any non-profit organization (501c3 or 501c6) in Colorado Springs or Manitou through VMIS.
