Job Overview

Summary

  • The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is local commuting area. (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.)
  • This position is located at Fort Carson Aquatics.
  • This announcement will be used as a standing register of applicants and will have cut-off dates every 2 weeks, the first cut-off will be April 28th.

Duties

  • Acts as water safety instructor. Manages all swimming lessons and instructs when scheduled, at the assigned aquatics facility.
  • Develops swim program according to students' ability and promotes students to higher level of swimming according to their skills.
  • Instructs all levels of swimming and appropriate strokes, to include; front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly.
  • Teach students from age groups of infant through adults.
  • Introduces and instructs safety and survival skills to students, when appropriate to level of instruction.
  • Instructors work with lifeguards to ensure that swim lessons are safe at all times.

Qualifications

Work experience related to the duties described above and possession of the following certificates:
- Water Safety Instructor Certification
- Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- First Aid Certification
(Certificates issued by American Red Cross, Ellis @ Associates, Star Guard or other nationally recognized agencies are acceptable)

Conditions of Employment: 
1. If selected, a completed and signed copy of our job application form (DA Form 3433) is required prior to entrance on duty. (Click here to view form).
2. Pre-employment physical is required.
3. Must have or obtain Lifeguarding Certification.
4. Satisfactory completion of all required background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13. i. is required.
