Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex

The range will reopen with modified hours to help us ensure the mitigation
measures are being followed.

The CMSC will be open Wednesday–Friday; 12–7 p.m.
Weekend hours 8 a.m.–7 p.m.

We have been permitted to continue renting firearms.

 

The following outlines the steps we are taking to provide a safe and clean
environment.

We believe that with some preventative measures the shooting complex can
provide a safe way to allow Soldiers, Retirees and their families a place to
train and find a sense of normalcy.

A. The shooting complex is currently undergoing maintenance practices that
will limit parts of the operation but with the following mitigation
measures.

B. Customers will be served individually and space controlled by stanchions
and signage explaining to wait until the person in front has exited.

C. There will be only one entrance and one exit to help reduce the exposure
and to keep the flow of traffic moving in the same direction.

D. All employees will wear protective gloves.

E. All employees shall remain at a distance of at least 6 feet from each
other to include all customers

F. All employees will disinfect their hands and surfaces after every
transaction

G. All ranges will have limited shooters to observe proper social distancing

H. All shooting stations will be disinfected and wiped down by the Range
Safety Officer after each customer use.

I. The outside restrooms will remain locked, if you need to use the
restrooms please ask the range safety on the range for the key in order to
use it.

J. We will only accept credit/debit card transactions.

K. In keeping with practicing social distance we will be having one shooter
per every other shooting bench unless you are instructing someone under the
age of 18 years of age or your spouse.  We ask that everyone else remain
behind the red line keeping at least six foot distance from everyone else on
the range.

L. Modified hours of operations: Wednesday-Friday from 12p.m to 7p.m and
weekends from 8a.m to 7p.m

Outdoor Recreation Warrior Adventure Quest (WAQ)

The Warrior Adventure Quest (WAQ) is a reintegtration program to help Soldiers respond to stress and excitement following a major training or deployment. 

Promoting positive adrenaline responses, improving morale and communication, and developing trust and teamwork through adventure-based activites. 

This program is fully funded by the Department of the Army and MWR.

Eligibility

  • Available only for soldiers and their platoons.
  • Conducted at platoon level
  • Must be executed within the first 120 days of returning from a major training or deployment
  • New eligibility to WAQ: if a unit has not been on a WAQ trip within two years
  • Each platoon is allowed one WAQ program per reset cycle
  • Must be conducted during a duty day
  • Full-day adventure program followed with a Leader-Led After Action Debrief (L-LAAD)
  • Completion of mandatory post activity survey
  • Drinking alcoholic beverages is prohbited prior to and during activity

 

5 Stages of WAQ programming (required)

Stage 1

Schedule your Warrior Adventure Quest (WAQ) program!

Stage 2

Leader Training. In this training, platoon leaders will learn how to facillitate a Leader-Led After Action Debrief (L-LAAD) held after the end of each program. Throughout the training, leaders will also be familiarized with the importance and goals of the WAQ program. Training is held every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Outdoor Recreation Complex (Buidling  2429)

Stage 3

Soldier Brief. Platoon leaders describe the WAQ program to their soldiers, explaining the scheduled program and goals of the WAQ. The details for the WAQ program will be described to all participating soldiers.

Stage 4 

This is your high adventure program.

Stage 5

The L-LAAD is held immediately after the activity and is facilitated by L-LAAD trained leaders. This is a basic debrief of the day's high adventure program.

  • Platoon cohesion
  • Create a controlled environment for adrenaline seeking Soldiers
  • An introduction to various outdoor recreation activities
  • Increase dialogue regarding training or combat experience
  • Increase of trust and teamwork with in each platoon
