Youth Age Policies

Age Requirements

Ages 16-17 may utilize Fort Carson Fitness Centers without parental/adult supervision.
 
Ages 13-15 may utilize Fort Carson Fitness Center on the condition that they must be actively engaged in fitness center activities while systematically supervised by and within arm’s reach of their parent or guardian. Non-compliance is deemed as loitering.
 
Children 12 & under are NOT authorized to utilize Garcia, McKibben, or Waller Fitness Centers.  Non-compliance is deemed as loitering. Children MAY use the indoor track, basketball courts and racquetball courts at Ivy Fitness Center under direct supervision of an adult (18+) from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.  Strollers and infant carriers are also authorized during this timeframe.
 

100% ID check in effect at all times.

Safe, Supervised, and Family-Friendly Fitness

Army MWR Fitness Centers welcome Families while ensuring a safe workout environment for all patrons. Age policies help maintain safety and appropriate equipment use.


Age Guidelines

Local policies may differ - please verify with facility staff.

16 and Older

Full access to all fitness areas without supervision

13-15 Years Old

Allowed with direct supervision by a parent/guardian actively participating in the same activity

12 and Under

Not permitted in cardio, weight, or sauna areas unless attending a designated youth program

Safety Commitment

Sports & Fitness Staff are required to review and settle any situation/discrepancy that may jeopardize the safety of the patrons in any Fort Carson Physical Fitness Facility. Please report any discrepancy/injuries to a facility staff member immediately. Individuals misusing the facility or failing to comply with instructions of facility staff are subject to immediate expulsion from the premises. Violation of policies listed may result in family members losing facility privileges and military personnel being subject to disciplinary action under UCMJ.

Please keep in mind that the overall safety and atmosphere conducive to adult exercise is the highest priority of the Sports and Fitness staff. Thank you for your help in providing a great workout environment for the Fort Carson community.
